Here're my two .45 automatics. A Colt New Rollstamp Government Model, and a CZ-97B.

I want to customize both. The Colt will get Hogue non-checkered Pao-Ferro grips and an ambidextrious safety, eventually. The CZ will (hopefull) get a Witness ambidextrious safety installed and, if they're ever available, a set of nicer smooth walnut grips.

Looks nice! Would like to shoot one of those CZs sometime. They have very good rifles so assume the pistoles would be too. :)

I've only got about two hundred rounds through it, all FMJ, but I've had no teething problems like the CZ had. CZ seems to be a touch more accurate, but the Colt is probably more reliable. (And really, I'm not the world's best pistolero to begin with.)

Ok, I've considered them. And I've come to the conclusion that, yeah. They're .45s alright.

Anyway, nice peices! The new Colts look nice. Kinda wish I'd skipped the SA Milspec and had gotten one of those. I also like the CZ. I'm about to get a 75B. What kind of problems did that CZ give you?

CZ-97 has a very steep feed ramp. After a healthy break in period, it was 100% reliable with FMJ ammo, even with dirt in the action between the moving parts (not an insane amount, but not clean, either).

I tired every type of JHP ammo I could find, and it jsut wouldn't work. Wouldn't even CHAMBER Cor-Bon.

I sent the barrel back to CZ-USA, for a free throat-and-polish. Barrel came back and the weapon would feed hollow points, though it choked once. I think it needs to be "broken in" again, though, but I havne't put enough JHP rounds through it yet to really test it.

I don't believe the model 75B has this problem (nor do, apparently, most people's CZ-97s).

Wow...nice pair! :evil: Both are worth of customizing and of course, the CZ will be harder to get all you want done to it....or I should say more expensive.
The Witness safety will work, but you need frame detents for the ball system the Witness guns use. For a mow betta way to do it...look at the SA or IPSC CZ safety. Its pretty large and can be shaped to your liking before installation.
