I just bought a 6mm 77MK1 with a Canjar set trigger. The set mode doesn't hold and when it does it will fire at random. I have not put live rounds in it yet and would like to see if there are any tips on setting the trigger up for safe use or disabling the set trigger and setting the primary for 3-5 lbs.

After market triggers are VERY difficult to properly install on Ruger MK I rifles. The problem you discribe is a common result of improper installation, which is real easy to do (incorrectly, I mean). As an example, I normally install after market triggers in most guns for $35, but on a Ruger MK I, I won't quote a price--it is based on time, and often reaches $100. I prefer NOT to do them. In short, you have a big problem, and that is probably why the gun was for sale. You might be able to go original, but that is a big might, depending on what the installer did. Good Luck!!!
