Found a sporterized 1917! Blue is deep, rifle is 5 groove button drilled, wings removed professionally, cartouche's abound! Love the flaming bomb!

Heavy as heck!

I don't need it and I have several other 30-06's, but knowing this was issued and carried before its transformation thrills me.

Purists will be upset, so please keep the negatives to yourselves - I know it isn't stock and I like it.

I may someday convert it to .340Wby since they take magnum conversion so well and it's already sporterized.

Price was silly low and it came with what might be a Leopold Alaskan scope, but I have to verify that.

That would make a sweet hunting rifle.

Nice, very nice. I have one that was never issued for service, hence never seen duty at all. It's all original and fired only a few times then put in the safe. My daughter has ear marked it as hers along with a S&W 686 still in the cardboard box.
I would love to stumble onto a deal like yours. Have fun.
