My rear sight on my Mini-14 Ranch rifle is slightly canted. Should I look into getting a replacement from ruger? how bout an aftermarket peep sight? anyone know one that is click adjustable, and can fit under a scope? I haven't noticed really a change in POA, it just sorta irritates me.

I'm probably missing something, or I'm just confused. What's the purpose of a sight on a Mini-14?
Actually, I'm sure Ruger would be a good source for a new sight! :)

I don't know if there's a "click" adjustable sight for the Mini-14 but you can buy one of those folding rear leaf sights that will fit right in. The Ranch has the worse sight in the industry and it's prone to breakage as many of our members found out.

I believe that Williams and Ashly (new name Express Sights?) make replacement rear sights. You can probably get them through Brownells.

There have been a couple posts over on the Perfect Union BBS about guys mounting M-1 Carbine sights on their Ranch Rifles. If you don't want to scope it that might be worth trying.

take a look at the Ashley Outdoors one, or 24/7 or whatever they call themselves these days....I got mine from Brownells and like it very much.
Fully adjustable for windage and elevation. Made of steel.

You can mount an M1 Carbine back sight on a Ranch without too much trouble. Mounts in the same place as the factory sight. Much better setup. There is (or was, I don't have time to research it) some pics on this conversion online somewhere. Even without finding the URL, it's an easy fix.

Can you still put a scope on if you use the standard rings? I wouldn't mind swapping out the old sights as long as I could still put a scope on again.

Gary speak true: The Ranch has the worst sight in the industry ...
Even though Ruger sent you a new one (they probably have dozens of them already packed in envelopes sitting near the telephone operators stations), I would suggest looking at a replacement. Normally I like the Williams peep sights and put one on my Mini, but their design for the Ranch Rifle leaves a lot to be desired. The Ashley is probably the way to go for your Mini.
