Winter Triggers

I was reading this site (http://www.biggerhammer.net/sigamt/sar/) about the lovely, lovely SIG AMT, and it noted that the rifle is equipped with a "Winter Trigger" that can be swung down into place presumably so that it can be operated by a hand with a thick glove that could not fit inside the trigger guard.

It seems to be a standard feature on that rifle. Are there any other rifles that have winter triggers either as a standard feature or as an add-on? Are there any handguns with them?

Has anyone used one of these before?

They made winter triggers for Garands. It installs in that little hole in the back of the trigger guard but comes with an angry warning about removing it when its not in use due to the possibility (probability) of a ND since the trigger is no longer guarded.

Wow I guess Stoner did it the right way.

The M4 and M16 series rifles have a pin built into the lower trigger guard (as the upper is part of the receiver) that hinges down for winter use. It is an integral part of the gun, no accessories needed.

As Killermonkey21 mentioned, most M16/AR15 type rifles have a hinged trigger guard. There are also a number of "winter trigger guards" available for the platform that are basically just curved instead of straight to make a bit more room.

The AMT's winter trigger looks a good deal more comfortable than any of those other ones, but due to its length and the fact that it hangs straight down, might be more prone to NDs. Does the Sig 510 that the AMT is based on also have a winter trigger?

By the way has anyone here ever shot a 510 or an AMT?

Czech K98s have an enlarged triggerguard for use with mittens.
