How much to bears drool?

Seriously... We've got a 125-150 lb black bear that feeds around our house and is ALWAYS drooling. About a foot to foot-and-a-half worth of drool coming from his jowl. Is this normal for a black bear, or should we be worried about disease?
Thanks

my advice isto contact your fish and game/wildlife service or what ever they call themselves in your area. tell them about the bear and ask about any concerns of disease transfer to humans or pets.

I'd buy a bear permit, if you can.

Something is not normal about that.
Seen many a blackie but never noticed anything like that.
Could be a disease, oral injury or the effects of some kind of poison.
And who knows what else.
Call Fish and Game and have them take a look at the critter.

Your bear is probably a raving-mad anti-gun liberal :D
Or maybe something smells really good at your house ....?
I wouldn't pet him if I were you.

I've seen a couple black bears in the back yard and never seen them drool, even when stuffing rasberry bushes in their mouths w/ both paws.
Maybe it ate something strange? I had a lab that wouldn't leave the toads alone. She'd come back to the house drooling like a saint every other day. The have a skin secretion that is like a mild poison causing foaming at the mouth. Maybe it has a good buzz too?

Maybe he thinks you look real tasty and he can't help himself. :)
Seriously, I also used to have a dog that absolutely would not leave frogs alone. As such, everyone in the neighborhood thought he was rabid because he always had a nice foamy mouth. But in this case, better to assume it's a sick bear and deal with it accordingly.
