I just shot my friends G21 and I like it a lot. This is the most comfortable gun I have ever shot. I want to purchase my own but I have some questions first...
1. What is better, finger grooves or no finger grooves? His was a 2nd generation w/ no grooves. How much difference do the grooves make?
2. Also I heard there were frame problems with G21's with serial #'s begining with E. Is this true? What serial number should I look for when I buy? Are the ones beging with F ok?
Thanks for any help in advance...................Ivan

1. Finger grooves or no finger grooves is very subjective and you won't really know unless you hold a Glock 21 or 20 to be sure. I have avg. or medium sized hands and I liked the finger grooves. But other people with similar sized hands prefer the 2nd Gen over the 3rd. Again, its very subjective.
2. There are certain E series Glocks that are on Glock's so called "recall" list that was isolated to a bad batch of frames. Apparently the metal rails were machined improperly and sheared off after extensive firing. If you know the serial number you can call Glock and they can tell you whether it needs to be returned for a new frame. Glock will replace it for free but you will have to pay shipping and wait for it to come back. As far as I've surmised over at www.glocktalk.com F Series frames are fine and Glock corrected the problem well before they put them into production. You can find lots of info on this here and over there but I warn you, you could spend all week reading all the stuff on this subject. Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to buy an F series Glock and if there was a used E series Glock I would probably buy it as long as its fair market price.

Ivansrm,
See the G21 that I have FS on this forum. It is not on the recall list.
It can be had without the Bar-Sto barrel for $100 less than the asking price. The pistol is LNIB.
