I'm not dj but I just recently traded for a 332 and took it to the range to try it out. OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!! I think I'm in love with the .32 H&R Mag. Easy to control but definitely seemed to pack a substantial wallop. Reloading will be the way to go for this baby though to save money on cartridges. The 332 is for daily CCW but it has made me really want to get an SP101 4" .32 H&R Mag too. I'll bet that is a really low recoiling revolver unless you load it up to real proper loads.

That's what I was shooting. It's great. I also had a few master cartridges, loaded with 100 gr. JHP that shot really well too. I couldn't tell any difference in recoil. I'll be loading up some of my own practice fodder as soon as I get some time and saving the rest of my Georgia Arms for carry. This little baby just begs for some crimson trace grips.

If you reload:

Cor-Bon had a project going where they loaded 60grain Gold Dot JHPs meant for 32ACP to some crazy velocities in 32Mag cases, up over 1,200fps from a 2", 1,400+ from a 4.68" Ruger SA.

This concept has a LOT of merit, because the GDs will hang together even if "overdriven" past all sanity :).

They closed the project because of lack of sales. Not enough people have figured out the benefits to the 32Maggie.

Hmmmm..... You don't happen to have any information how those loads were put together do you?

Not if you drive the 200gr .429 Gold Dots at 444 Marlin Velocities. [:D]

Of course that 200gr GD is meant for 44spl and low 44magnum velocities 800ish to 1100ish FPS not the 2000+FPS out of a 444Marlin. Can you say fragmentation? [:D]

I bet the new 210gr GDs will hold together better than the 200s but I still can't see them holding together all that much better.

LOL! Yes, you CAN overload a Gold Dot, no question. They'll hang together better than most JHPs, but there's a limit :).

As to load data: look up some reloading manuals. You should be able to start with a 60gr jacketed load, and work up. SLOWLY. Go ask over at the handloading forum, somebody may have a chart covering that kind of bullet weight.

the 332 is sa/da

there is a pause point in the trigger pull that is just after the cylinder locks in place and before the hammer is released,

with a little practice its very easy to find

it is (or was) listed by s&w as sa/da, while the rest of the lightweights (iirc) are listed as dao, but i wonder if they can be fired in the same manner as the 332

yes, i love my little snubbie

:D

given the aluminum frame, i wonder if super powerful loads might cause problems with it over the long haul?

just checked their website, the 332 is now listed as dao, i KNOW i saw it listed sa/da earlier. i can definitely shoot mine sa if i so desire (fwiw)

try yours?

Mine does not have the kind of distinctive pause to which you are referring in the trigger pull but I think I know what your talking about though. I handled a Taurus snub that had a very two stage feeling double action trigger and there was a distinct pause that you could hesitate on before finishing the trigger pull with near single action pressure. Mine's not like that at all.

strange,

is it possible they changed the design?

i notice the only ones they list as da/sa now are the ones with exposed hammers

next time i see one i'll have to try it and compare

does yours have a number on the bottom of the backstrap?

mine does not but ive noticed others with it since i bought mine

I also bought a Smith in .32 H&R cal. It is an excellent gun with a reasonably powerful cartridge. Not enough recoil to hurt and plenty accurate at close range. I don't know if this will eventually harm the cylinder but I also shoot .32 acp's in the gun. They are even milder to shoot and they eject just fine in my gun. I can usually find the shells cheaper too.

Now that I actually got this real, honest to God *job* (as a gun rights activist!!!) I can start thinking about finally buyin' a friggin' gun after a dry spell of...ye Gods, over three years.

I know it'll be a Ruger SA. But, I keep turning back to the smaller-frame Single Six in 32Maggie. Lesse, the GA 100gr should pull...1,100 or 1,200 from a 4.68" tube :). That's not bad power. And I can feed it cheap with 32ACP European milsurp until I can reload...I may have a job, but it's nothing I'll get rich offa :).

That's OK, I'm having major fun, see also http://capitoltruth.blog-city.com
