Hey all, Im thinkin of getting a Walther P22 (as I've posted before) and Im aware they had feeding issues with certain ammo.. I also recall reading "somewhere" that most of the issues had been solved with a new magazine design? (I think thats what solved it anyway) But how do you tell if the gun your getting has this newer mag or not?? Or if it's something else they fixed, how do you tell if yours is one of the good ones from one of the bad ones, before you buy/shoot it?? (I'll be taking advantage of a local stores "sale" on the gun, so it'll be a NIB model.) Just want to make sure Im not getting older stock or something, that still has the problems.. Thanks for the help!!

I have one, take a peep over at rimfirecentral.com all the info will be over there.

The new mags are stamped with a "B" prefix on the mags. I have used both "A" and "B" mags with no problem.
Most high velocity ammo works without a hiccup!

Also over on the rimfirecentral forum-copy the P22 Bible it will have everything needed to take care/mod your P22.

I would suggest you check the trigger bar ears before shooting, in the bible it shows how smooth them out so they do not cut into the slide.

Good Luck-:D You shouldnt have any problems.

Wow, that P22 Bible is quite impressive!! In searching around I found the answers I was after.. I wasnt aware this gun had been around for so long.. I think the modded mags came along in 2005-2006.. Just for other who may need the info I was after, you can tell what model year your gun is by looking at the discharge port, on top of the slide (while it's intalled on the gun).. You'll see two letters. They are designated A=0, B=1, C=2, D=3, E=4, F=5, G=6, H=7, I=8, and J=9.. So, (for example) if you see AH it means your gun is an 07' model.. I think anything from 06' on should have the new mags, but to be sure, you can check the mags themselves.. As the above poster mentioned they are stammped with an A or B at the end of their model number.. (B being the final version) and they also have an oval slot cut into the mag "case", which allows the rounds to stagger stack.. The "A" version mags have a smaller slot (appx. 1/2") and the newest "B" mags have a 1" slot.. I also read of doing this mod yourself, with a dremel, if you have the old style mags and are experiencing FTE or FTL problems with your P22.. Thanks again for the info guys and I hope this helps someone in the future!! :)
