Nice Model 624

Found and bought a nice 624, 4" bbl at a local shop this week. It is in excellent condition and will look great after a good cleaning (the bore looks fine, but it just needs a good overall spiffing up).
I put a few big holes in a coffee can with it, and now I see why some people love to shoot the .44 Special. What a sweet shooting gun. Hardly any recoil, and a VERY good trigger. I'm looking forward to getting it to the range so I can get an idea of how it really shoots.
I have a call in to S&W to see if the gun is subject to the cylinder recall, and I may have to send it to them in order to be sure.

Congrats on the 624 pick-up. Yes, aren't .44 Specials just the cat's pajamas? A smooth take-off and a nice big hole on target. I was shooting them in a few magnum revolvers before finding the 696 that I was searching for since January. I had a mixed bunch of brass that I was on the umpteenth re-load of till this afternoon when I recieved 200 rounds of new Starline brass from Midway, so I can finally $#!*can the old stuff. Enjoy that 624.

Those .44 Specials are great. I also bought a batch of brass from Midway a while back and loaded it up with 240 gr LSWC's and Unique. Just enough recoil to let you know what you have, and a nice hole right where it's supposed to be... :D

44 Special is Special. I had on built about 1976 from a M-28 using a factory 1950 Target 6 1/2" barrel. Makes a great gun. The 250 Keith at 900 fps does 99% of what needs done with a sixgun; at least where I live.

I shoot a lot of .38 Special and .357 Magnum. This 624 could be the gun that eventually starts me down the reloading path... the factory ammo isn't cheap! But I think shooting .44 Special could be habit forming.

Economy of numbers sucks sometimes.
Hence 44 Mag usually cheaper than 44 spec.
