What's the differences between these and the ones intended for civilian use?

Colt semi-auto only ARs are marked "Govt/LE Only" due to them being made during the 1994-2004 assault weapon ban.

I actually have the same question, as I've seen new in box Colts this year marked Gov/LE only" that had a different model number from the non-marked ones. As far as I could tell the markings were the only difference. I'm not a colt guy, but I'd like to know if there's any other differences too.

I'll try and find the model numbers.

Found one on another website.

Colt 6920: "Law Enforcement Carbine" (see Pics)

How is this different from: Colt 6400 as seen here: http://www.coltsmfg.com/cmci/MTM4.asp

Different mags?

The MT6400 that was linked has a compensator and a non collapsible stock. My 6920 that is LE marked has a removable flash suppressor and a 4 position collapsible stock.

now that the ban is expired, it means nothing basically.

The LE guns have the features like bayonet lugs, collapsible stocks, flash suppressors, etc.

The commercial guns are more suited to states that have their own bans with fixed stocks, permanently attached muzzle devices, no bayonet lug, etc.

LE (http://colt.com/law/home.asp)

Quiet hit the nail on the head ! The LEO marked rifles and various pistol mags were for during the ban. Auto or burst are not marked this way!
Colt still marks some LEO, they are intended for semi contract buys for law enforcement agencies.
Please note that if Obama wins, by February, it goes back to 1994-2004 regs and anything marked thusly will not be available for civilian sales .
