Do you just use your normal CCW gun and/or normal vehicle carry handgun - Or, do you go with something a bit special for the special occasion - maybe a bit bigger/nicer/more capacity or power? Or even less nice, due to on-the-road thievery concerns?

I'd probably go for one less nice so I wouldn't be as upset if some anti-gun LEO decided it wasn't something you should continue on your way with, especially if going through unfriendly states.

When packing for Hawaii, Moe Syzslak made sure to bring his "beach pistol", thus confirming that there is no aspect of life that cannot be referenced to "The Simpsons".

That said, I usually just throw my P-01 in the trunk where carry is legal.

My handgun preferences, above all others, run to Colt Governments in various calibers. I tweak them to suit me.

My traveling gun is a S&W 4506. Reliable, comfortable to shoot, fits in my auto safe (for those states that don't allow me access to a loaded gun). I have about as much emotional involvement with that S&W as I do with my neighbor's pickup truck. So, if the situation DoubleTapDrew mentioned above came up...Oh well, I'm out the dollar-value, but my honeys at home are just fine in the safe...

I usually head for the beach and for me it's a .500 S&W smart carry in my bikini briefs. If you don't have six-pack abs, you've got to do something.

If it is in-State travel, I will pack my regular carry (Glock 26). If it is out of State, I may just bring my Kel-Tec P32 since it is cheap and I don't really care about it that much (not to "diss" the gun... its great, but at $250, its not the end of the world if it gets taken).

I only travel in my home state, and carry the same reliable CZ P01, maybe with a PCR backup. If it's a long car trip, a rifle and spare ammo is going along, too. Camping, two rifles, one for me and my loving wife.

Same pistol around town or on trips.

use what you no best, that is your special choice, as you may not know well your surroundings, having an CCW you know and trust, is one less Chance for "MR MURPHY"

I have specific reasons for each gun that I carry and they are related to situational considerations.

My decisions on those carry guns are based on several years of trial (and yes error).

I have no intention of changing my carry gun for any other reason than which one best fits the situation.

None of my carry guns are what you would call fancy, they are just functional.

I have one highly engraved and dressed 1911 that I won, and I have worn it to outdoor events where open carry was in use. I also carried one of my fancier knives. Heck, for these events some people wear designer clothes and dress to the max ... me I'm more into comfortable, practical clothing and fancy (dress) hardware. :D

One of the usuals. But I'll add a box of ammo to my kit, too.

And sometimes I put a cased bolt rifle behind the pickup seat.

I recently went on two road trips in other states (both legal with my CHL) and decided to carry my XD9SC. I don't carry this one much anymore so I guess it's been relegated to vacation duty. My normal carry guns are my XD45 Service or my XD-M. My Kahr PM9 is almost always in my pocket as well, but none of those went with me on these trips.

I generally bring along a target pistol. Very easily explainable to LEOs without causing raised eyebrows, even if you are passing through a state with Draconian gun laws.

My son loves waterparks, so vacations often include at least one day in swimshorts. I've got a little .32 that drops into a shorts pocket then gets hosed with WD at the end of the day. Otherwise, the usual 1911.

While vacationing, my usual 3" 1911 .45 will do. Unless I'm going to spend a bit of time in the forests of the Upper Peninsula or the mountains of Tennessee, then I'll pack my Delta Elite instead.

Now that there's funny - I don't care who you are!! :D

Shear stress - good point! :D

Myself, I will usually carry a different one (nicer) on a vacation, since I have a safe bolted to the floorboard. My carry gun may be a Kahr MK9 or CZ PCR, and my "truck handgun" is a Taurus snubbie .38, but yet on vacation I will sometimes grab the nice 1911 or CZ75 SP01 Tactical with a shoulder holster.

Nothing special. I take a SIG 229 because its the most versatile handgun I have. It is relatively compact, relatively light weight, and relatively powerful. It moves well between most types of dress and the vehicle.

I leave a Star BM that I got for $139 in my truck. It's so realiable and accurate, it would kill me if it got stolen or confiscated though.

Nothing special. If I know I will be going out at night, I take the handgun that has night sights, in this case my Glock 19.
