Who's a lefty, who's a righty, who is ambi? Please only post ambi if you can shoot with either hand with the same accuracy and control.

I picked righty since this is in the handgun forum.

Long guns I'm a true ambi. But prefer the left hand for most purposes.

I'm crossedup in the eye dominance catagory.:banghead:

Learned to shoot w/ either when I had an injury to my right elbow. Now, I shoot righty most of the time because that is what I'm most use to.

I'm a righty, but sometimes I'll shoot with my left hand only. I think its a good idea to do that every now and then, because one day you might find yourself in a situation were your right arm gets shot or something and the only way you can fight back is to shoot left handed...

I'm right handed but dyslexic so I often find I'm shooting lefty.

Right handed but Cross dominant - left eyed. Shoot all kinds of ways depending on the weapon and the range.
Handgun - usually right hand
Shotgun - usually left hand
M2 HB .50 Cal - Both hands:D

I think the statistic you are about to correlate is the standard percentage of left handed persons in the general population!! :D

I'm an adapted lefty. There are a lot of things I still do with my left hand but most of the tasks involving my hands (I can read your dirty mind!) I do with my right. Last week I discovered that I'm a left handed archer!

Shoot pistol left handed. I can shoot right handed for distances under 10 yards if I have to. I am accurate enough right handed for social purposes.

Shoot rifle right handed.

Go figure

Rightly all around, but I do a lot of weak hand only drills. Not quite up to snuff to call myself an ambi though.

but I voted righty, because I, uh, use my right hand for everything.

I'm naturally left-handed (write and eat lefty) but I shoot right-handed; I just can't stand to be sent to the left-handed ghetto of the gun world, like some poor friends who constantly scour the net for "Portsider" 1911's and left-handed bolt-guns. :uhoh:

Tam, I'm left handed, and I don't see the need for a reversed 1911 (I do, of coruse, require an ambi safety). The only gun that has EVER spat brass in my face was the M16A1.

Bolt actions are slower to work, left handed, but if you're carrying a bolt gun fast shooting probably isn't what you're worried about anyhow.

Certain guns, like Kalashnikovs, seem made for lefties. Leverguns and pump shotguns are nice, too (as are any weapon where you'd be inclined to drop a round into the chamber).

Right handed.

I can to a certain degree do some things either hand or eyed - some better than others. Handguns( not ambi but my weaker is better than used to be, tools ( especially some small hand tools in a former life), stuff like that. Rifle and shotguns...nope gotta do it righty.

Right handed, left eyed.

OK for handgun shooting, but really messes me up with long arms.

I'm a natural righty, but I can shoot my deer rifle left handed if one sneaks in on me.

For shooting purposes, I voted righty, 'cause, well, that's how I shoot.

Write lefty, eat lefty, bat and throw a baseball lefty. Throw a football, frisbee, etc righty. Kicking preference is with my right leg.

Right eye dominant.

A frickin' mess is what I am. :D

I'm a lefty but can use the gun w/the right. I practice shooting with the non-dominant hand on a regular basis. It's good in case something happens to the dominant hand.

Left. There are only a few things that bother me about that...like all those old mil-surp rifles I didn't buy in my early teens (when they were cheap).

Right handed for pistols, left for shoulder arms...I'm left eye dominant but right handed. It's difficult for me to force myself to aim with my right eye, so I'm learning to shoot leftie with rifles and shotguns.

I'm a Southpaw that can shoot right-handed quite well.

(When I'm shooting at long ranges, I actually shoot better with my right hand. It might have something to do with the fact that I'm right eye dominant. *shrug*) http://www.candlepowerforums.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon6.gif

Voted "Ambi''. I am a tad faster shooting drills with my right hand and a tad more accurate with slow aimed fire using my left hand. Shooting right handed I use my right eye, shooting lefty I use my left eye. I am right eye dominant but only slightly, I can easily shift dominance to my left eye.

Equally ambidextrous with a rifle too. Wingshooting left handed is pretty poor though, I need to work on that.

Ambi, I do prefer to use the right hand for shooting however. For some reason I have things that I prefer to do with each hand. I prefer to use a fork or a pencil with my left hand, while I prefer to use a hammer with my right. :scrutiny:

I shoot two-handed, most of the time, and when I do, I pull the trigger with my right hand.

I do, though, practice one-handed shooting some, with both hands, and I'm not less accurate with my left than my right.

I am, though, somewhat less smooth manipulating safety, slide catch, and mag release, with my left hand than my right, but you didn't ask that.

I'm crossedup in the eye dominance catagory So am I. I tried shooting a long arm right handed and didnt do very well. The fact that it was the first time I fired a machinegun (MP5) probably didnt help matters much.

One of the regulars said it threw brass in his face which is why I was shooting righty, but I havent had a problem after getting fed up with my eyes and going to the left hand with it.

I usually go righty, but was trained to be bi. :what: I still practice, and often shoot better, with my lefty. I figue my left side must be more open minded and less macho than my right ;)...
