Well, I have been a lurker for some time now, and just last weekend at a local gunshow I bought my first pistol. A four inch GP100. I have put 150 rounds down range and it WAS the right choice. I couldnt talk myself into getting an auto-pistol. I am 26, married, and live in Atlanta. I have my CCW and this thing, really, is not that bad for concealed carry. I have put 50 rounds of +p through it and other than you dont feel any recoil, it was accurate right outta the box. Then i put 100 range magnums into it and fine tuned the sights. Then, I bought cor-bon 125 grain JHP's. Holy cow. Those things have the most "pop" outta anything this far. I will try to get some pics up for everyone. Oh, almost forgot. My holster is a Backwoods brand, strong side.

It sure was funny at the range for the first time. A couple of guys were a lane or two down from me, just dumping 9mm down range with their Glocks'. I was pleasently throwing .38's down range when I decided to put some of those Cor-bon's in. I double tapped all six and just when I put the pistol down, I looked over to see these two guys saying something like HOLY #### hopefully this guys is on my side! I did notice that of all the ammo that they shot 1 outta 3 was hitting the sillouette. I shot 50 rounds, and not a single one outside the sillouette!:)

Welcome. It is nice having the younger crowd join in. You have discovered one of the revolvers secrets, with only 6 rounds you have to make every one count. If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask. There are many folks here that are very willing to help those who ask while asking only that you pass what you learn on to others. I thank those who have shared their knowledge with me.

I would really like to have a GP100 myself, but I need more ammo at this point instead of more guns.

If you can't do it in six, you probably can't do it.:neener:

Welcome thejetman. There are a few young wheelgunners running around here. I'm 25, married, and living in Jackson, MS (where I really do feel the need to carry... :uhoh:)

I hope you don't have a lot of disposable income - revolvers become addictive. My first handgun was a semi-automatic. My wife's grandmother gave us a S&W Model 32-1, which we put a few rounds through, and man - I couldn't help myself anymore. I haven't even looked at a semi-automatic in a store in at least 5 months. In fact, I usually walk right out when I see no good revolvers.

You should hear what gets said when I pull out the .44 mag with wood grips and fire it single handed (bullseye style). :D

Congratulations on your purchase! I have never been dissappointed with my three Rugers (two of which are revolvers). I am in my twenties as well.

I think you did good. Ruger revolvers are stout and accurate. When my oldest daughter went off to college I bought her a Ruger sp101 .357. A revolver fits my lifestyle and I would rather have a good .357 sixgun (like your Ruger) than any 9mm ever made.

You should hear what people say when you take a S&W 65 in 357 and double tap pairs for 6 shots and dump a moonclip and do it again.

A four inch GP100...it WAS the right choice. You dang right it was. I can't count the number of times I've recommended THAT EXACT revolver to a new shooter.

Welcome, welcome. You're already ahead of the game: you understand that only hits count.

Do not be lured to the dark side. Welcome to the struggle. Let us know if you need advice--but you seem to be doin' OK from where I stand.

Yup, I knew I did well with my purchase. It has been a long time coming but it was well worth it. My father is a 1911 junkie that used to shoot IPSC when I was a kid. We went to the range today and I showed him what I had bought. I thought his grin was going to break his jaw!

That is an excellent revolver. You are hearing this from a S&W man! I used to have an SP101 and I never should've gotten rid of it.

Oh well.

Welcome aboard!:)
