I loved my Photon II but probably lost it in the dark corner of underneath someone's desk under a computer covered and it now rests in a grave of PC and subwoofer wires :(
I seen the Photon 3, but the apparent lack of constant on function is a turn-off (literally, drrr bad skunk pun)....does anyone have this light and is it worth getting or should I stick with the II?

It will do a constant on, its one of the programmed functions, also high, med, and low and strobe. Mine seems much brighter than my older photon (I , II?).

Skunky, I have one on my keychain, in red. I love it, and you can't get any better than the different modes.
I have been thinking of getting one for the back of my duty gear now that winter is almost here. I figure I will spend the majority of my time on Major Accidents along the german roadways. I think having a red flashing light might just be the ticket to ensure my safety out there!
Get one and try it out.

Thanks Grockster...now red, white or green for maximum tacticality?
Or all three and I can string 'em up as Christmas lights?

I got red, as I planned to use it on a deployment to Iraq...wqhich hasn't happened yet. Blue or Green would probably be my next choice.

As you may know, Red is commonly used for hours of darkness in the field. It help preserve your night vision, but is not visible from long distances if used correctly. I have also seen the blue lenses used for this purpose, but have not tried it myself. Greens might possibly be the next best choice for field use.
I am not a grunt by Army or Marine standards, and I haven't spent much time out there. These are just my thoughts.

Anyone carry these somewhere other than on a key chain? I was thinking as a zipper pull on a bag or winter jacket or better yet on a dogtag style chain (if I knew where to find them). What have been your carry methods?

Phe, keychain here.:D I used to carry a "bug" (Photon II) on a Fenwick fly clipper thingie. Clip it to the thingie and clip the thingie to my suit coat.
Skunky, one of my guys carries them. Look very useful.:)

Glockster, if I was you I would make green a choice over blue and maybe even red. This last summer my rescue squad did some night man tracking in a wilderness like setting. What we found is that red is great for preserving night vision but it was too weak to pick up foot prints. One of the guys on my team had a green light worked like a champ. It was a good balance in providing enough light to see the shadows of a foot print in soil but still not kill your night vision.

Green? This may be a silly comparison but I don't know if it's relevant or not, but the 'cruise control' on my dash is way brighter than the amber and red instruments and it really bugs my eyes...not sure if it ruins night vision or not, but it certainly is annoying.....

Skunk,
The P3 is great for use on a zipper pull, on a bag, or on your dog's collar. The P2 is much better for use on a keychain. The P3 has a tendency to turn on and stay on in your pocket, so that you've got no light when you need it.
Just my experience...
