Anyone watch the re-run of "Fraiser" the other night?
In a nutshell:
Niles gives Dad a ride to the shooting range. Dad wants Niles to try a handgun, he resists. Other guys at the range are really friendly and helpful. Niles tries it and likes it.
Had to leave the house and didn't see the second half of the show but somehow I get the feeling before it was all over he is convinced by someone that he shouldn't pursue the hobby any further.
Am I wrong?

Your instincts are correct, Sisco.

Before the show is over, Niles attends a gunshow with his new shooting buddies, who are then shown to be neo-Nazis plotting the violent overthrow of the US Government. :banghead:

Don't you wish that the popular media would at least throw us a bone once in a while? :fire:

I just got done watching an episode of 'The Simpsons' where Maggie takes out Fat Tony and his mafia compadres with a rifle.

Figures.
The people in Hollyweird may be flaky but they do have their agenda. :fire:

I rarely watch "King of the Hill," but just saw an episode in which Hank and his son get into some semblance of an NRA competition. I got the feeling that the creator(same guy that did "Beavis & Butthead": Mike Judd)may be pro-2nd. One of Hank's buddies said, "Guns don't kill people, the GOVERNMENT kills people"(!)

Do you remember the episode of Frasier where Niles says "I had no idea how much I like fishing until I began shopping for it." If the show had internal integrity, Niles would say the same thing about shooting.

Pro 2A scenes? Well, one of my favorites is in Mummy II where Enfields and school shooting teams are made to look pretty good.

Now if this were a reality TV series Frasier would be a dirty old man into underage girls.

I saw the episode the other night, and yes, some of Niles' shootin' buddies turned out to be right wing militia members. But it also depicted Niles and his father as enjoying the harmless sport of target shooting with pistols, and clearly differentiated both of them from the militia types.

I was waiting for some kind of disaster to reinforce that "guns are dangerous," but there was no such depiction.

I didn't find the episode offensive.

I don't know if its the same episode, but I remember being disgusted by Niles and Fraisers' father (a retired Seattle police officer) saying something to the effect of "I don't believe civilians should have guns."
