I want to get a couple of handguns and I'd like your opinions...

I think I've narrowed it down to these...

S&W 317 .22 1 7/8” barrel: (I don't have a .22 so it would be good for the range)

S&W 642 .38 Special: (I like J frames and S&W just came out with the no lock version again)

S&W 442 .38 Special: (Same as the 642)

GLOCK 19 9mm: (I already have a G19, but having two couldn't hurt...)

GLOCK 26 9mm: (I like the fact it can use my G19 mags)

Kahr K9 Elite 9mm: (I held one once and it felt very balanced and pointed very naturally)

Kahr P380 .380 ACP: (I could use a very small CCW for when I get a LTCF)

Ruger LCP .380 ACP: (Same as P380 but I don't know which I like better)

Which two would you get?

EDIT: I added more information.

Is there a reason you chose the 642 over the 442?

The .38 Special's are rather high on my list because I sold and gave away all my revolvers... I had an S&W 37-2 (basically a 442 with a hammer) an S&W 65-3 .357, and an S&W model 10 2".

Any of them would be good choices, except the Kahr pistols. The Kahr P9 I had was nothing but problems

IMO, the Kahr has far too many reports of reliability issues. I also think the S&W model 317 would be a disappointment for range shooting.

If that list is all thats available at that shop i'd find another shop.

I chose the 642 over the 442 because my wife has the 642 and I love it and want 1 of my own. Runs great every time.

I would go 642 or 442 myself. With no internal lock you really cant go wrong.

Plus if enough people buy the version with no internal lock S&W will probably start making more varieties of revolvers without them, and that would be awesome.

You made two important comments in your post:

(I don't have a .22 so it would be good for the range) and (I could use a very small CCW for when I get a LTCF)

Every one needs a good 22, but even though I own a 317 I would not recommend it as a (good) range gun. Think about a S&W 617 or Ruger.

As to a good CCW, you already have a G-19 for belt use, so my suggestion would be the 642 (or 442) which are arguably the best pocket CCW's on the planet.

Free advice, so take it for what's worth.

Personally, I'd like the LCP.

Hard to compare the LCP with the P380 since the P380 wont be out until sometime in November.

Kahr K9 and S&W 442. My Kahrs have been flawless and I love my 642 except that the clear kote finish wears very easily. I think the black finish would hold up better.

Glock 19 and the 442! :)

Only issues I have ever heard with Kahr was the 9mm models. My CW40 has been flawless for over 1k rounds. That being said, I would go for the S&W 317 and the p380 (or a cw40).

I'd get the 642 or the 442 and then a P3AT or the LCP if you really want it more.

Both will be great for CCW.

How did you win money at the local gun shop? None of my local gun shops give me the chance to win money.

A couple of things:

How did you win the money?

What guns do you already have?

With the information given, I'd have to lean towards the LCP and 317. I agree with the earlier comment that a longer-barreled 22 would be better. LCP is not the most shootable 380, but it sure is pocketable.

Glock 26 and S&W 642

I wonder, maybe you should get the G19, then get a pair of laser grips and impress people with your tacticality!

Or, if you want to be practical, I'd say what DevilDog0402 said: Glock 26 + 642

I didn't enter a drawing or anything, I just walked into the gunshop and they said I won some money... I guess I'm lucky! :D

I didn't even know they had a drawing until they told me I won.

I have a...

GLOCK 17
GLOCK 19
Browning BDA .380 ACP
Beretta 950 .25 ACP
NAA Mini .22 LR/.22 magnum

I won $1000.00, I guess I'm just lucky or maybe God wants me to buy more guns... :D

I'd get the G19 (or 26 if you want) and a 442/642.

Hell, if I could only own two handguns it would be a G19 and a 642.

If you go with a tiny auto for concealed carry, I'd suggest the PM9 over any of those three. It's been around for a while, MOST are known to be very reliable, and it's really as tiny of a pistol as you'll ever need to conceal.

Unless you're a nudist.

Where would you conc--

I laughed. Hard.

If you want a S&W .22 that's good for the range, I suggest the 617.

And you're right about having 2 Glock 19's.

It depends, what are your needs, wants?

Personally I wouldn't get the same gun that you already have, that's just boring. I'd go for the lcp and glock 26. Why not try a S&W M&P or an XD45?

Update on the Kahr P380. According to their website

KP3833 (2.5" Barrel)
Black polymer frame, matte stainless slide
MSRP: $649.00
Shipping December 2008!!
Due to unprecedented demand for Kahr pistols, Thompson firearms and high-capacity Thompson magazines the Kahr P380 has been delayed for approx. 30 more days. We expect to start to ship limited quantities in December.

Either the M442 or M642 would be my choice. They are both the same revolver except for the finish and S&W had released non-lock models of both.

If you decide to buy a .22 revolver I would suggest a M63 over the M317. Even though both are J frames the M63 has a 5" barrel and carries 8 rounds. The M317 is nice but with it's short barrel it's more difficult to shoot well. Both are nice but I would go with the M63 over the M317.

There's light years of difference between a Polymer Kahr and a steel one ... and the Elites are just that; elite.

The K9 Elite is probably one of the best carry pistols ever made in 9mm.

If it was me I'd snag that K9 and the S&W .22 (because like you said you already have one). If I didn't get the K9 I'd get the G26 because you already have a G19 and the 26 is much easier to carry.

Of the guns you listed, I'd buy the 442 or 642 for CCW and the 317 for cheap CCW snubby practice.
