Does anyone know what serial number Beretta 1201FP is the cut off for the 94 ban? In CT our state law did not sunset and I want a 1201FP with a pistol grip.

Thanks,

Your best bet is to contact Beretta and find out from them what the cut-off is.

Ok here's the deal....serial number doesn't come into play...

First, in CT, you can't have a firearm if it's on "THE LIST":

http://www.ct.gov/dps/lib/dps/special_licensing_and_firearms/assault_weapons.pdf

The Beretta isn't on the list, so far so good.

Now you have to go to Sec. 53-202a. Assault weapons: Definition. Subdivision (3)(C).

http://www.cga.ct.gov/2007/pub/Chap943.htm#Sec53-202a.htm
(C) A semiautomatic shotgun that has at least two of the following:

(i) A folding or telescoping stock;

(ii) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon;

(iii) A fixed magazine capacity in excess of five rounds; and

(iv) An ability to accept a detachable magazine; or

(4) A part or combination of parts designed or intended to convert a firearm into an assault weapon, as defined in subdivision (3) of this subsection, or any combination of parts from which an assault weapon, as defined in subdivision (3) of this subsection, may be rapidly assembled if those parts are in the possession or under the control of the same person.

So, as long as you don't two of the items on the list, you're OK, but subdivision (4) is where they get you, you can have a compliant shotgun, but if you have the parts available to make it into an "assault weapon", you're still in violation...

CT basically took the California AWB and changed the name of the state....

Pain in the butt but true... I went through it with my M1 Super 90 many moons ago. You're going to have to choose between the pistol grip and the mag extension.
As I read the law, you can switch back and forth as long as you have two different residences in which to store the different parts. At least, it's clear that you cannot have the pistol grip stock and the mag extension in the same place as the receiver at the same time.
