Could never figure what Clint used in that movie, was it a 624 or a short barreled 29?

I asked that a couple years ago but I don't remember the reply. It's not a 29 I do remember that and I'm 99% sure it's a smaller framed .357. Smaller than a N-frame I mean.
Great movie. I'd like to see it again.

A model 66 with 2 1/2 inch barrel.

"A model 66 with 2 1/2 inch barrel."
I agree. For awhile, this was quite the status sixgun for plainclothed police.

I think the camera angles make the muzzle (and the gun) look larger than it really is.
A sidebar on that movie: I always enjoy watching just one scene in that movie; the confrontation with the bikers in the desert. The motorcycle gang is mostly a bunch of extras, with there choppers, that stand around and watch as the actors play out the scene. One of those guys was a good friend of mine in highschool, who moved to Las Vegas, after graduation, got a chopper and joined a club. He is the one with longhair, beard and a stupid grin on his face. :D

Several of them tagged along for subsequent Eastwood movies. The "Every which way" series, "High Plains Drifter," etc.
Eastwood was like Burt Reynolds. They'd all be sitting around with their buds and someone would say, "Hey, why don't we make a movie?"

I don't think it was a 66, if you watch the movie it was a square butt gun so it couldnt be a 66 2.5, plus it was a N frame probally a 624

It is a model 19 2.5" nickel .357. When I met Clint when he came to a ranch I was on in Big Sur I told him I carried one like that- for the Feds. Clint used to be quite the gun guy until his liberal wives tempered him back to fairly PC.

Not so. It was a special factory order 66 w/2 1/2 inch barrel ........ with a square butt.
