I ran across a beautiful Md 12 at lunch today. It is a 1959 production Md 12 20 ga with a vent rib and a WS-1 choke. UNFORTUNATELY the stock has been cut for a kid and a pad added. Also there is a Poly-Choke(deluxe) on the barrrel. The bluing is perfect and the forearm is perfect. The wood is very nicely figured(fiddleback) with few if any dings. Would this have been a factory rib? It is not marked. I would have guessed it as a Simmons but again it is NOT marked. Can anyone take a guess to a value this gun may have? I am thinking about picking it up for my Son to use for birds and Skeet shooting.

I bought it.

Thanks for the info. The asking price is $400. I still may get if for my Son as his hunting gun.

$400 sounds good. While the Polychoke is unfashionable, and I personally dislike the esthetics, they do work.

New stocks, for when your son matures, are available from utility grade to custom built AAA+ wood.

Model 12s are forever guns.

I cannot be sure about the rib, but it looks original to me, and factory skeet m-12's often came with poly chokes installed. As for the stock, that kid's going to have the prettiest gun among his friends. Buy it!
