Do you guys have a different bag for all your long guns? One size fits all? Or different bags for different sized guns?

I'm STILL trying to decide which baggie to get for my long guns ... all two of them :rolleyes:

I got a double rifle case from Ace Case. Nice cause rarely do you want to take just 1 rifle to the range.

Problem was carrying my 60" SKB case up a deck of stairs (a yard wide) was a PITA....Especially if you're short. I'd like something I can toss on my back...Wasn't so much the weight, but the size, but at least it fit two guns.

The only long guns I have dedicated bags for are my SAR-1 and two of my Mossbergs.

The SAR lives in one of those black 'tactical' bags with four mag pockets and an additional long pocket on one side. The long pocket is a perfect fit for my 40 round mag.

The Desert Camo Mossberg gets transported in a standard Allen soft case whose colors closely match the paint job on the gun itself. I found that the paint is easy to scrape off, so I try to be as gentle as possible to it and therefore carry it seperate from anything else.

My PG/side-folder Mossberg is transported in a replica M1 Carbine bag. It's a copy of the WWII green transport bag with the carrying strap, zipper, and leather tabs. It holds the scattergun perfectly.

All of my other long guns get carried in Plano double rifle cases.

I've always been a 1:1 rifle/case guy...

My "heirloom" guns have hard cases, and my "knockabout" guns are in soft cases.

The best thing about this is that, if you buy a case large enough, you can keep extra items (ammo, mags, etc) in the same case--in case you have to grab & run...

I have a case each for my more expensive rifles, or the one's with scopes to be more exact.

I do have several double rifle cases.

When I return to the states for good I will be purchasing a good quality shooting mat/rifle case as seen from Blackhawk. Must be drag compatible and also have shoulder straps. This will be for my Savage 10 FP.

Right now I'm checking to see the overall length of a longneck banjo. I'm hoping it'll fit scoped. Although a Chinaperson with a banjo case isn't exactly discrete...:uhoh:

So let me see if I have this right: I buy a rifle, and it comes in a big box, that I need to keep, just in case. Then I need to buy a hard case to transport said rifle to range. Then I need a safe to keep rifle safely at home.

My modest collection of long guns is prolly about 12. My safe is full, still got a few under the bed and in the closet. Another closet full of cardboard boxes. More boxes under couch. Rifle cases stacked in loading room ...
Where will it end??

Now I need a bigger home to keep all the boxes and cases in!:p

I store all my long guns in a safe; when in use they fit into one of three soft cases (40", 44", 48") or one double-rifle hard case.

speaking of Discrete cases, a modification of the "put the gun in a guitar case" ploy..... had a buddy who had a (luckily) empty case stolen out of his car one day because he was utilising the "make it look like a guitar or other instrument NOT a gun" routine and the case had a "Fender" sticker on it.... (theif thought he'd just scored a Stratocaster, not a $20 piece-o-crap hard case)


figure that if you live in an area where someone might get ideas if they thought it was a gun case, then you would also want to make sure that you didn't make them want to steal the item it's labeled as.. (that make any sense???)

Oh as for what I use, currently (having only 3 guns in the safe) my 10/22 has it's own soft case (the Allen brand black and red "Ruger 10/22" case) adn my Lefever sxs and Marlin 39M share a case if i ever take all three to the range at teh same time (otherwise each gun get's it's own case).

Now when i get more guns, then more cases will come as well. Any "Target/tactical" will get their own case that will be used for that rifle and that rifle alone with any gun specific items being stored between range trips in that gun's case, and each case marked or decorated differently (the Savage 110FP "Tactical" i had rode in a case bearing a sticker showing sculling oars crossed over an old world casket and the words "Coffin Crew" anyone know of a source for Type O-Negative[band] stickers?? i really want another copy.... :evil: )

I not only have separate bags for each gun, but i keep LBE for each gun loaded and ready to go in duffle bags.

Skunk, do you mean like, between a Hefty or Glad bag? Twisties or handle top? ;) Actually, for under $20 at WalMart, you can get a plastic hard-sided 2-rifle case which will accomodate ALL of your longguns, even if both are scoped. Not bad.

Jeez, if you're trying to fake thieves out, don't put a "Fender" Sticker on it - put a "Samick" sticker or something. That's kinda like someone with a Fender in a rifle case putting Cooper or Robar or Blaser on the side.

I have a plethora of bags and cases. Too many at times.

My precision rifles never leave home except in a hard case. I also have the hard cases for flying:
I have 2 Pelican 1750 cases, and a fitted set of foam for each precision rifle.
I have a Pelican 1700 case with several sets of foam for various ARs.
I have a Pelican 1550 case with several sets of foam for various handguns.

Around town, my tougher bolt guns (700LTR, M40 Clone, Savage Varmint) typically ride in a tri-fold drag bag from Eagle. It folds out into a shooting mat and comes in very handy. It accepts shoulder straps and ALICE gear.

I have an Eagle soft case for ARs that has the 4 mag pockects on the side. Although I don't care for Blackhawk as a company, I have a 3-gun bag that holds 2 long guns, a pistol, and has a pocket for extra gear that I like a lot. I usually carry an AR, shotgun, pistol and mags galore in it, and a small bag for eyes, ears, and ammo.

I have a Bagmaster bag that holds 4 handguns along with MUCH gear, and that transports the pistols back and forth to the range. I have several soft pistol cases that fit in there as well. At one point I had 14 handguns in it, along with eyes and ears. The ammo definately did not fit, though...:D

Actually, that is properly called a 'coffin', hence the moniker "Coffin Crew". The straight sided kind we use in the U.S. is called a casket.

Skunk, for hauling around duty, I find a GI duffle bag works well. The kind with double straps, like a back pack, not the ancient single strap kind. For protection in there, a cheap soft side works for me.

For working guns only - not for pretty stuff.

Actually i DID know that, but since so many other folks don't. i thought a slighly more "descriptive" explanation of the image was in order....

what ticks me off is, that all the newer versions of that decal, i've seen in the past year or so, have changed over to a casket behind the oars and now say "casket crew" :banghead: NOT what i want. oh well
