I just picked up one of these for my 1911 at Cabela's as a stop-gap. I want to order a custom dual gun rig from Mernickle, but it'll take 6-8 weeks and since it's cold, I need to wear my jackets (most of them not long enough to cover a slide holster), so I needed something for now. I guess it'll also be nice when I don't feel like wearing two guns and don't want the lack of weight on one side (I like symmetry).

So I've got it mostly adjusted to what feels comfortable, but I was just curious how tight or loose you guys wear yours. Bangin' on your hip, stuffed up under your arm, etc. Do you cant it much, or keep it level? Do you cant your mag pouch for quicker grabbing or not?

Pics would be nice, if you have one, so I can get an idea of how much you adjusted it.

No cant. Gun in the middle of my rib cage. Magazine pouch adjusted so that when I reach straight across my chest with my left hand, I'm touching the snaps. Haven't used it for street carry for many years. I use it around the house nowdays. Gym shorts, t-shirt, shoulder rig. For every day carry, IWB or OWB on my right hip. No pictures available. But let your right arm hang loose and bend your elbow so it's at a 90 degree angle and reach across your chest. That's where the butt of the pistol is with the pistol hanging horizontally. Do the same with your left arm and reach horizontally across your chest to the right. That's where the snaps on the magazine pouch is located.

I'm not sure how long I've had mine. Over fifteen years. With periodic application of leather cleaner and protectants, it'll last. No cracks at all in mine. And you don't have to be fanatical about it. Three times a year will do just fine.

Two reasons I abandoned the shoulder rig for everyday carry: 1) The right hip draw is a bit faster, 2) Ranges and training classes don't want you to use a shoulder rig. I figured that I should use what I'm being trained with and practice with that. But it's within arms reach now. With a 1911.
