Vang Comp & Trap

Anyone with a Vang Comp barrel try shooting trap with it? I'm just curious since I have a 18" barrel and I was thinking of Vanging it out. I'm not a serious trapper but I just wanted to know how a Vang Comp barrel would pattern at trap range with bird shot.

I have not seriously patterned my 20" Vang'd 870 but I use it for hand trap (and Trius-thrown) all the time. It is basically a short-barrel'd modified choke.
Attention to swing follow-thru is even more important with those short barrels.
It works fine and the clays cannot tell the difference.

Try it and see. I've shot some informal clays with riot guns, it's a hoot.
Ask Mike Irwin about wobble trap with an old cruiser gun....

I use my 18" Gunsite Vanged 870 for all kinds of informal clay shooting and upland bird hunting. It has already acounted for over a dozen hungarian partridges this season. As 9mmMike said it is close to modified in its patterning. I just use cheap 7.5 shot shells if I want a wider pattern and more expensive premium stuff for a tighter pattern.

A couple of months ago I used my S&W 3000 police trade in to shoot 2 rounds of wobble trap -- 18 inch barrel and cylinder bore.
22/25 and 22/25.
edit -- WHOOPS! I shorted myself! That should have been two rounds, 22 of 25 each round for a total of 44 of 50!
I won't complain about that in the least.
