Hey guys, great site, I enjoy it a lot!

Here's one for ya: I bought an 870 Wingmaster, 12 gauge, with the serial number of 30895. This, to me, indicates that it would have been built in the first year or so. But it has the later version of the stocks on it (not the corncob forend, for example).

So.. anybody know what year this one was produced, and secondly, is my suspicion correct that it has been restocked at some point? It has the original style Remington recoil pad, and the "screwed goose" grip cap cover.

Thanks for any help with the production year. The gun is in very good overall shape.

Is that the whole number, or are there letters, too?

Remington will tell you exactly when it was made, though. My 1100 was built in 1971, per a 1-minute call to Remington.
