Legal Question

I know the legal purchasing age of handguns is 21 *in Md at least*, but scrolling through the forums I read that if under 21 you can receive a handgun as a gift and have it still be fully yours.
Could anyone elaborate?

Federal law says you can't buy from a dealer.
Laws in regards to firearms usually apply to transfer in any form, purchase, gift, trade, etc.
You need to check your state laws.

...prohibits dealer sales of handgun to anyone under the age of 21 but generally restricts possession of an otherwise legally acquired handgun to those over 18. State laws may be stricter (e.g., may require a minimum age of 21 to possess a handgun.)
