I have 8 pounds of Titewad I picked up at a gun show for a song. Looking on the manufacturers site, I can't find any pistol load information for this powder. Does anyone know where there is some data using it? Or is it completely unsuitable for pistols for some reason?

There is a Titewad (http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=199435) and a Titegroup (http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=411636) powder available from Hodgdon, or at least there was at one time. I know Titegroup is still being made, it is very popular.

Titewad is very fast, while Titegroup is just plain old fast. Real technical, huh. :D

Titewad should work just fine for light loads in pistols. Load data is another thing. I'll have to look around. I am sure someone can fix you up with at least some starter data.

I am not sure if you are going to find info for it, here from the Hodgdon website, (red highlight by me):

Through advanced technology, Hodgdon Powder Co. has produced a superior flattened spherical shotgun powder. Unlike spherical propellants in the past, TITEWAD features low charge weights, mild muzzle report, minimum recoil and reduced residue for optimum ballistic performance. This outstanding propellant designed for 12 gauge only, meters superbly and is ideal for 7/8, 1 and 1 1/8 ounce loads. As the name implies, "a little goes a long way!" Available in 14 oz., 4 lb. & 8 lb. containers.

Yep, I have some of both, too, and am looking for reloading data for cast bullets in pistol brass.

I know Titewad is really fast, but am not really willing to simply assume something like "oh, same weight as red dot" or something without getting some verifiable data first....:what:

Yep, saw that.

If it was me, I would take a carefully calculated guess, load some up, and go from there, but that is just me. Heck, it worked for me with a couple of other similar powders with little to no data available. (Like Competition in .45 ACP-good stuff) :)

Their your fingers, do what you are comfortable with. Me, I would work up a load. :uhoh:

titewad is for shotgun. titegroup is for handgun.Yep, but many "shotgun powders" are widely used in pistol calibers. No reason Titewad won't work.

My range buddy uses Titewad with great results in his pistols although I never have.

It's about the fastest powder on the market.
