What do the readers think of the Springfield P9? I found one in good shape. They want 369 for it. Isn't this a bit much?

The Springfield P9 was one of the best quality of the CZ-75 "clones".

The gun was actually produced in Italy by Tanfoglio and finished here by Springfield.
Tanfoglio is the actual maker of almost all the CZ clones, and the current importer is EAA (European American Armory).
Springfield did an excellent job of assembling and finishing the P9 and they have an excellent reputation for quality, accuracy, and reliability.

DEPENDING on the actual quality, that might not be a bad price but try to bargain it down.

I've got several P9s. I think they're better quality than the CZs, especially in fit and finish. The mags don't exactly interchange with the CZs, but all Tanfoglio, Baby Eagle, Sphinx and Magnum Research will work fine.

Great guns. They just are not that popular with the plastic crowd. Mine is a long slide 40 Ultra IPSC ported version and it is one of my highest round count guns. It just is fun to shoot and extremely accurate. Consider yourself lucky to get one that cheap today. I spent about $500 for mine NIB back in 97 and even today consider it money well spent.

I would try to get the best price, of course, but considering the quality of that gun, it's a steal.

The P9's are on the right hand side. My favorite P9 Ultra IPSC is in the upper right.

The thread needed a picture to show off the p9's.

Beautiful guns, Peter. Are the ones on the left a TZ75 and a CZ97?

Witness 10mm to the upper left and CZ97 45acp lower left.

They are both nice guns but I had problems with the 97b in that the barrel sheared off so I sold it after CZ fixed it.

I had a P9 with a longer slide, and ported. Don't remember the model, but it was a .40. It Kaboomed on me. No harm to the gun, and just a little shrapnel in my forehead, numb hands, and gouged glasses.
Gunsmith determined that it would indeed fire out of battery. You could see the barrel dropping out of battery and it would still drop the hammer. Check the function of the disconnector before you buy.

Sounds like my Ultra IPSC 40. It is a long slide and ported version in 40.

I had not noticed that it would drop the hammer out of battery. I will have to check that the next time I shoot it. Thanks for the tip.
