Which do you prefer? How are the Berettas anyway? Don't know much about autoloading shotguns.

I've got some experience on both. My preference is the 11-87 over the 1201, with the deciding factor recoil and ease of operation. The 1201 is about 6 pounds, and the butt stock angle beats you to death, but reduced recoil loads are not that bad. On that note, it's a recoil inertia operation as opposed to the 11-87's gas operation. Some loads may not work as they would in a gas gun.
Too many switches and thingies on the 1201- hit a button here to load, another to close the breech block. The 11-87 has a simple switch for releasing the breech block and you are off.
The 1201 factory sights were tiny, but this is easily fixed with replacement sights. I much prefer the factory Remington sights, though, big enough to see the target yet not completely cover it.
On a less important note, you can buy more aftermarket stuff for the 11-87 over the 1201.
I owned a 1201 for about a year and was pleased with it overall, these are minor gripes. I have an 11-87 now, and if fits better than the 1201.

I am just the opposite of Fed168. The Beretta comes tricked out just perfect for me. Yes, it kicks a little, but it is stone reliable even with target loads. You are getting a Benelli for about half price when you buy the Beretta. Make the choice based on YOUR needs/wants. HTH
