I have a Ruger Super Redhawk that came with a Nichols 2X-20 Magnum pistol scope installed. I have been unable to find out anything about this scope or the manufacturer. Is it any good, and will it stand up to .454 Casull loads?

At one time there was a manufacture named Nickel in W. Germany who made very high quality scopes, comparable to the Ziess and other German brands.
They were considered among the best scopes made in the world.
Then about 15-20 years ago, Simmons branded some of thier scopes with the Nichols name in an effort to play on the name and upgrade thier poor reputation for quality at the time.
If your scope says "Made in Germany" on it, it is a Nickel, and probably as good as you can get.
If it says Nichols, it is a Simmons of unknown quality.
