older S&W 38 US Service CTG's

I have a Smith & Wesson 38 special The serial number is C 4817xx and would like to know the date of manufacturing or year. It has the screw in front of the trigger guard fixed sights and I think it predates 1961 but am not sure. Also it has a heavy 4 inch barrel with checkered wood grips. Any help out there? Sure would appreciate.

That serial number is 1961-1962.
