Latest milsurp score...

I came back from wandering the floor at the last gun show I worked with a look on my face like that of an Ethiopian kid who'd just been handed a bowl of wax fruit: there was almost nothing there I felt like buying, and it left me baffled. However, I did find one neat toy after some diligent digging. Here's a pic. (I'll let you know two things: all the serial numbers on the metal parts [except the barrel bands/buttplate] match, and it's chambered in 7x57. Think you can guess it? Ready? Go!)

While it's a small-ring action and a small-ring stock, the two did not necessarily come from the same country... :uhoh:

Hmm. A combination of Colombian and Swedish, perhaps? Say, a Swedish stock and Colombian action?

Looks abit like a mauser carbine I ran into about a year back, but for some reason didn't bring home. They were made for the Brazilian police IIRC, but I've slept since then.

Actually, it's a Spanish short rifle in a long Swedish stock that was just whacked back to fit. I thought it was so cool looking that I had to buy it (the fact that it was cheap, plus the fact that I didn't yet own a 7mm Mauser helped clinch the deal. :) )

It looks very much like an Argentine Model 1909 Mountain Carbine.

I was going to say a Chilean or Argentine cavalry carbine, but I'd be wrong.
No ring mount.
Looks like fun, though.
Regards,
Rabbit.
