Ok revolver guru's here is my question.
I have heard some disparaging remarks made about the quality of rossi firearms. I have a Rossi M68 that was made back when rossi was owned by interarms out of VA. It was made in brazil. It is a .38 sp and I was wondering if +p loads would be safe to shoot out of it.

Actually, anything you can tell me would be great. I know nothing about this other than it's caliber and it is the first center fire revolver I ever shot. It is in great shape, and fires like a dream. I got it as a straight trade for a charter arms undercover .38sp (he liked the charter arms more as it was much lighter).

My personal opinion would be no-
I'm not terribly familiar with the various model #'s of Rossi's, so I am taking your word that it is a .38 special caliber. I think those guns were fairly well made, albeit not as smooth or nicely finished as a S&W from the same period.
It is good to hear that you like the gun and it works well for you; enjoy shooting it-
If it were mine I would stick to standard load .38 specials in it and avoid the +p stuff-

I have one and it will eat all the +P I care to give it, which is usually my carry load and reload once per month. The rest of practice is spent with semi-wadcutters in standard pressure.
I've not had problem #1 from it yet. When/if I do, I'll fix it.
In other words, you will not have a catastrophic failure if you use +P for defense and limited practice. For extensive shooting, go with standard pressure.

This is what I do with my 1964 vinatge S&W M36.
IIRC my step-dad carried an old rossi back in the 1970's. Come to think of it, my Step-dad carried/owned almost EVERY inexpensive brand of pistol (Charter, Taurus, Rossi, H&R...even Jenings!) at one time or another! He was NOT a gun snob by any stretch of the imagination. I dont remember any serious problems with his rossi! I say shoot it and enjoy it!
