Came into a little Sterling .22LR pocket pistol. Striker-fired it looks like with no visible safety and a heel mag release. It is marked Sterling Arms, Lockport, NY on the side.

I have no familiarity with this weapon at all. It is really more of a keepsake then a pistol I plan on shooting much but I was curious about two things:

Where might I find a manual to describe maintenance for this pistol?

Is it safe to actually carry and use and in what condition? As it stands now, I wouldn't want to carry it in condition one and I don't think it would be much use in condition three for the close-in nature of the weapon.

Anybody with knowledge about these pistols is invited to share what they know.

BR; in the early 80's, I personally saw one of these fire when a partner in EP was gearing down after shift, he was carrying it as a backup, took it from SOB, in soft holster, toss onto his bunk, and it discharged. (Stingers do a job on a mattress!) gun was taken OOS and met it's end with a 8# sledge hammer at the jobs end.

This is my only experience with Sterling 22's, but it was memorable!! :what:
