I saw one very similar to that one, was an early S&W .32 rimfire.

A pocket pistol, probably in .22 short.
Often nicknamed "suicide special"!:D

Several companies made "suicide special" revolvers along these lines, usually in .22 and .32 rimfire calibres, and there my be no way of determining who made this particular one without trying to clean a lot of the crud off of it. Usually, these were marked with a trade name or model along the topstrap, or along the top of the barrel.

Google spur-trigger revolver, and you will get more pictures then you can shake a rusty old spur-trigger revolver at.
Might be able to match up the hammer shape & cylinder pin length to something and get more info.
It's only one of many different types of "Suicide Specials" made, but "Spur Trigger" is the sub-class you want to search for.

It is neat the way it is, if you did want to find out more information on it you might try cleaning it with electrolysis (sp?). I've done this a few times on really rusted tools and it strips everything down to the bare metal without damaging the part.

That's cool... I got into SCUBA diving for a while but the coolest thing that happened with that is I got bit by a catfish (Finger+10lbs Catfish+ Salami=Bite :D)
Sorry about the double post.
The Defender 89's , I believe were made by Iver Johnson, and sold through Sears.
I'm not sure of the production dates, but I know that my Great Uncle bought this one in the early 1900's.

Unless some poor guy accidentally lost that, I'd say its probably evidence that somebody thought they disposed of.
I've also heard of anti-gunners giving evil firearms a dramatic "burial at sea," but I would guess that to be the least likely option.
