I like chopped hammers on my revolvers. Is there anybody making a quality thumbreak holster for a double action only revolver? Or can existing thumbreaks be adapted for DAO? Maybe put a spacer of some sort in the loop? :scrutiny:
Please help before my dremel does something It may regret.

Is we talking about the big, bad revolvers like the kind combat gamers play with; or the little snub-nose kind? :D

Both,
-S&W 386 tapered 2" L frame .357- I want to de-spur.
-S&W M-10 4" tapered barrel- DAO
-S&W 625 4" big bad competition gun- Have been using an El Paso Saddlery Tortilla for carry. This spur is definately going to die, so now I have the conundrum of my favorite carry holster not locking the gun down.

Good Lord Fuff. Judging by your posts, THR is your late night snack and your early morning breakfast as well!

I have never seen anything like that for 4" K or N frames.
Probably some custom maker could do it pretty easily though.

Tks for the replies. :) I'm going to leave the 386 hammer on until I find a holster that I'm comfortable with.
Although the 625's hammer will be in the form of fine dremel dust very soon. My EPS Tortilla will get a spacer of some sort sewn into the thumbreak loop to make up for the missing part.

What holster makers usually do when this issue comes along is shorten the outboard strap and relocate a new snap. On occasion they also lower the snap on the inboard side. All of this is simple, and inexpensive to do.
Try Gene DeSantis at DeSantis Holster and Leather Goods Co.

I forget why I dismissed this idea initially. I have access to the snap tools. Now that the hammer is out I took another look at this with the gun in the holster and it seems more viable than I thought, though the angle now looks very awkward for the strap and won't quite make it all the way. Maybe a combination spacer/snap reorientation?
I guess I can't expect it to do something it was not designed for, though it would be nice to not have the gun jiggle about in it's bucket when running after a downed pheasant or tracking a wounded deer.
I'll post the results when done.
