Bought a P99 and discovered the guide rod is Warped.

Just got it home tonight and was looking at it and noticed the guide rod is warped/curved. I called Walther customer service and the guy said it's normal and won't affect functioning. (This is the 9mm version.)
Now I think I've read that some people had bought metal guide rods for their P99s (aluminum or SS?). He said they didn't sell any and have no part number for them. Where are people getting them?
Thanks,
Steve

the polymer rod is just fine. everyone is in the thought process of 1911's thats the problem. the guide rods on most the p99's ive seen appear to have a bit of a "crook" to them. never once affected the functioning of them. and if it did...walther would likely warrenty work it.
as for the metal "mythical" rods....most were exepairmental work by walther and smith. and only a few were made from what ive read

Someone posted this on the Walther forums:
Yes, I am using one of Don's non-captive guide rods that he manufactures for the 4" barrelled Springfield Armory XD in my .40 Auto/.357SIG Walther P99. _I have used it with great success in both pistols with a Wolff 24# recoil spring.
BTW, it's pure luck that it fits and functions perfectly in the P99; I found this out by accident just by playing around one day.

I'm with Bowlcut. My P99 guide also has a tiny warp but I haven't attributed any issues to it.

Never had any problems with mine either, but it is nice to know that if a problem does arise there are other options....;)
