Anyone know of the guys who own & run Black Guns in Liberty, Texas? I was thinking of having him do some work on my Springfield GI 1911 - an ambi safety and beavertail/bobbed hammer. He says he's pretty good, but just saying so and staying at a Holiday Inn Express doesn't mean it's a fact.

Nice guys...just doing a little homework before I turn my pistol over to him.

Hey there,

I'm in Liberty and have had the fortune/misfortune to use the place in mention during the past. The guy does great work when it comes to FFL transfers but I wouldn't use him or the other guy there for any gunsmithing, since I've already made that mistake.

The time I tried to have work done, entailed the addition of a paddle mag release on a PTR-91, of which had detailed instructions and was represented by many as a do it yourself job with the use of a dremmel tool, since I didn't have one and wanted to give BG some business, I took it to them. A month later, I stopped by since I hadn't heard from them, and they were quite vocal on how the work couldn't be done and that the parts didn't fit lol! From the looks of it, the package containing the parts hadn't been opened and not attempted, but never the less I wouldn't give them a shot again.
