Any thoughts on this gun? I am thinking about trying to get one for myself for my christmas present. I looked at one at Gander mountain with synthetic butt stock and foregrip. Was about as light as a feather and as tight as the NEF I looked at.

I've got one in .410 with a wood stock. It came as a combo with a .22 barrel. The barrel switch only takes a few seconds and it's a great little squirrel/rabbit/grouse gun.

Mine hasn't seen heavy use, but it's been totally reliable over the last 6 years of plinking and hunting. I paid $109 for it back then from Dunham's Sporting Goods.

Cool. I been scouring the net for info about them and like what I have found. Just thought I would put it to you guys. I dont think Im going to be looking for a combo though. I just want a 20 gauge shotgun. I plan to use it with foster type rifled slugs next year for deer. The synthetic stock makes it feel like a feather. The one I looked at is so light its incredible. I bet its going to kick good and hard.. chuckle..

I got my kid one this year after she shot her first dove with H&R 410. Once that happens you know they are ready for something a little closer to dads gun since they are hunters now. At least thats what she told me.Since we have gotten she has ran 100+ rounds through it with out 1 hiccup. I tell ya there is not a plastic water bottle safe this side of the Mississippi. Good deal on a good gun I would get one again if I ever needed to no problem.

I think I am somewhat of an oddity now days. I am 33 years old and the youth shotgun appeals to me. I hear about how that is what kids usually start out on and I agree with that thinking. But the interesting thing to me is that those kids usually move on to bigger guns. Now me personally I like the light weight and managability of youth shotguns with shorter barrels. And I like the single shots because if I dont think I can hit something I wont pull the trigger. Im thinking the cheap single shot will be a good home defense and put meat in the pot gun. I have heard that the NEF is built better than a Rossi though. Any thoughts on that?

I'm 59 and I've taken a liking to the youth guns, too. The lightness an shortness makes them a delight when hunting thick cover, and I seem to adapt to the shorter stock just fine.

Knowing you have to make that one shot count also seems to add to my focus and concentration. Plus the guns are so danged inexpensive you just don't worry about nicks and scratches at all.

The only drawback I see to the Rossi's compared to H&R is that they're made in Brazil instead of the US, but at least it's a democracy.

For the amount of rounds that you are going to run through it I wouldn't be worried. I heard the same thing, but the price is right and its a single shot. My thinking was that the dang gun will only see 20 rounds a day tops. At the rate she is going it might see 300 rounds this year and strongly doubt I will have any problem with it at that rate for several years. If thats the case in my book it was money well spent.
