I got some arrows in a bow kit that have inserts, yet they fall out .......what is the best type of substance to keep them in ?

If you are talking about holding the nock or threaded insert in the shaft, there is a thermal glue that works real well.

Depends on the arrow. Aluminum or carbon?
I use a 2 part eppoxt for my carbons and for aluminums I have had success with hot glue, but prefer Fer-l-tite. Kinda an orange stick. Great stuff you can get form any archery store

This stuff, Ferr L Tite Glue (http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jhtml?id=0004580410542a&navAction=push&navCount=5&indexId=cat600294&podId=0004580&catalogCode=QP&parentId=cat600294&parentType=index&rid=&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fcatalog%2Fitem-link.jhtml_A&_DAV=MainCatcat21424&hasJS=true) works pretty good. It's basically the same stuff as the hot glue stuff used for fishing rod tips.

IF the link doesn't work right, just look under the Archery section in the Cabelas online catalog.

Different type depending on wether shafts are aluminum or carbon and usually available where archery equip is sold. I use Boning brand. If you mean the point inserts, you heat the insert with a small propane torch or torch with low flame, coat the surface with a small amount of the adhesive and insert into the shaft using an insert tool or an old broadhead with protected or filed off edge (use a twisting motion to coat and seat) wipe off any excess and avoid lots of extra goo. If you mean nock inserts (the part that clips onto the string) you use a different adhesive. some have a small set screw to expand them for a friction fit in the shaft. I assume you are refering to glue-in tip inserts or nocks.
post back with any questions.

Red and BOB, good advice, I've used that also. (your posts snuck in ahead of mine)

I prefer good epoxy over hotmelt for hunting arrows, especially carbon.

An old friend who was a Martin dealer showed me the product they sell for this purpose. It is in stick form but unlike Ferr L Tite it is not brittle and will not shatter and loosen. You can almost tie a stick in a knot. In addition I believe you can buy it in a bag by the pound at a much lower price. Great stuff!
