I carry these two while hunting for forest grouse in North Central Washington, Okanogan County actually. Two reasons, bears and cougars, and I've only had a run in with the bear variety so far. I realized that afternoon that my 16 gauge and an ounce of 7 1/2's wasn't going to do much so I opted for a sidearm. I figure 255 grains of lead behind 9 grains of Unique would be a better choice. The Galco will usually ride crossdraw and the Randall over my right hand back pocket. Both are clear from my buttstock and yet close by.

The grips are cocobolo and custom made by Cary Chapman of CLC Grips. As you can see Cary is a fine craftsman.

May I suggest 9 gr of Unique behind the lead?:D:D:D Have you considered W231 powder? I find I like it better than Unique

Actually, a beautiful set up.

calaverasslim, I guess I did have that bass-ackwards, huh?

I use WW231 for 45ACP, but haven't tried it for 45Colt. Hmm...
