so iw as watching the election coverage while i was loading some light .45 long colt rounds and after 20 rounds i noticed that i had grabbed the green dot instead of the unique powder

i was loading light rounds for an old gun so i was using 7gr of powder for a 200gr semi wad cutter are these safe or should i pull them down

Don't take this wrong, but that is why my loading bench faces a blank wall, and noone is allowed to do anything noisy or distracting in the room while I am loading.
I'd pull them down, unless you can find data that says that load is within specs.

What reloading manual?

Speer 13 lists 45LC 200 Gr SWC at 8.0-9.5 grains of Unique, 7.3 to 8.3 grains of Green Dot. You appear to be below the minimum for both powders according to one of the most conservative reloading manuals available. Of course, you know the gun better than any of us.

it is hornady 4th edition

it doesnt have green dot in it

but the unique is 7.3gr for the min
the loads are for my brother in law and he is going to shoot them out of his colt 1909 army revolver that has been in his family for a long time (around wwII)

It's safe. Below SAAMI specs, assuming the bullets are not seated deeper than about .30". (if seated .35" deep, they will be slightly over SAAMI max.

It's a better load than 7.0 grains of Unique with that bullet.

You need to scale the Green Dot load to make sure it was 7.0grs and not ASSUME that just because your dispenser throws 7.0grs of Unique that you where getting the same weight of Green Dot. The powders likely have different density. Of course if you weigh each charge you load that wouldn't apply.

A load of 7.0grs of Green Dot should be just fine with a 200gr bullet in the 45 LC. Alliants free data pamphlet published in 2000 lists 8.0grs of Green Dot with a 200gr bullet as the maximum so 7.0grs is even below a start load.

steve i dont use a dispenser every powder charge i do is weighed

All of my powder is put away except for the one on the bench that I am using at the moment. Period. It is a good safety catch that most reloaders use.

I would pull them down unless you are absolutely sure you have 7 Grs of Green Dot in there and it checks out as a safe load from a manual.

According to jibjabs link, you appear to be OK if you are sure of the weight.

they are on the book case next to the bench and theya re the old bottles that are the same size and similar colors so when i was watching john almost cry (that ppor guy :( ) i just grabbed the wrong one thats what i get for watchin the election

I would do the same. Why even risk a problem? I bought a bullet puller 1/2 way through my first batch of reloads. :)
