Buy, Sell, or Hold

With the approach of dark days ahead, what are your plans now? I see a few threads on what people are going to buy, but they don't cover the buy/hold/sell.

I am not going to sell anything else. I will buy more magazines ammo and complete another AR build soon.

November 5, 2008, 08:43 AM
I'm buying and holding

November 5, 2008, 09:07 AM
I voted for me to buy. But I think you should sell (to me). I'll buy, what do you have to sell?:):):)

Some people, who are worried about confiscation, are diversifying into the "cowboy assault rifles", the lever action 30-30s and such, to hope to avoid being on the "list". It'll work, for a while - Teddy Kennedy said 30-30 is an armor piercing round, and should be banned.
I'd say get what you can, off books if legal in your state, and don't let the farging iceholes ruin your life. But, your primary goal should be to work your tail off fighting anything coming down the political pike, join the NRA, GOA, etc., and do your part to, A) make the next four years survivable, and B) make sure it's ONLY four years!

farging iceholes

Johnny Dangerously!

Dude, you're my hero.

Buy imports, could be first, easiest target.

I think prices are going to go up regardless.

Buy memberships in RKBA organizations to protect your rights.

Hold onto your resolve.

Sell RKBA to more folks by adding to the ranks of new shooters.

Oh, and if you can't be bothered, just sell what you got to me and I'll make sure it gets a good home. ;)

I'm gonna hold on to what I got; and not fold, under the Obama regime~! ;)

November 5, 2008, 11:46 AM
Buying with what my budget allows.

For now another Glock, ammo and some AR lowers.

November 5, 2008, 12:08 PM
Prepare for the worst, hope for the best and if the feds come for my guns I sold them all to a guy on THR.

November 5, 2008, 12:10 PM
Teddy Kennedy said 30-30 is an armor piercing round, and should be banned.

Actually, Ted Kennedy said the opposite, but don't worry about the truth. It's boring. :)

November 5, 2008, 12:11 PM
im at hold right now ( continuing normal buying) but not getting extra stuff

November 5, 2008, 12:18 PM
Just in case my previous response seemed too terse, here's what Kennedy said:

Sen. Kennedy (July 29, 2005): This is not about hunting. We know duck and geese and deer do not wear armor vests; police officers do.

Sen. Kennedy (March 2, 2004): My amendment will not apply to ammunition that is now routinely used in hunting rifles or other centerfire rifles. To the contrary, it only covers ammunition that is designed or marketed as having armor-piercing capability.

Mitch McConnell and the NRA-ILA said that Kennedy intended to ban hunting weapons/ammo - even though Kennedy said the opposite.

You may claim that Kennedy said one thing but meant another - that's a matter of opinion. You are not right to claim he said something he never said - that's a matter of fact.

I say never give any of it up and if you have some extra resources and have already saved a little for the tough economic road ahead then I would say spend a little on increasing your collection.

November 5, 2008, 01:16 PM
I would be ok as far as guns go but for me it is going to be mags and ammo that I am getting.

November 5, 2008, 01:26 PM
What is this "sell" word of which you speak?

November 5, 2008, 03:00 PM
I've noticed allot of stuff is already sold out and back ordered at midway. Not much left in the way of AR mags. I think this is a trend we will see increase as people begin/continue to panic. If you haven't been stocking up over the last 5 years you may already be behind the eight ball.

November 5, 2008, 04:54 PM
I picked "Hold" simply because there wasn't a "continue as usual" button. I refuse to allow fear to change the way I've been doing things for years. When you start aging, you get crotchety and set in your ways :D

November 5, 2008, 04:56 PM
As others have said, buy what the budget will allow. Money is always tight and especially this time of year with the Holidays coming. But I am planning on picking up an SKS tomorrow, if it looks good in person. I will probably buy some extra ammo in case of an ammo tax, which seems like possibility... After all, "it would only affect those rich hunters"... yeah right.

November 5, 2008, 04:56 PM
I give the panic a few months then it'll blow over... hopefully =)

I am combining two of the catagories. I do plan on keeping all I've got, and continue to add to it. This has always been the plan but now It will be more agressive.

I doubt your gonna get many 'sell now' responses.
It would be insane to sell what you have with the possibilities that may lay ahead.

This world is growing spiritually darker by the week. Practically by the day.
Even me, the lowly village idiot, can see that.

Having said that, would you sell if there is even a small possibility you may have serious need for the armament you have acquired in the not too distant future?

No Fear
November 5, 2008, 05:17 PM
There should have been an option for "a little of all three."

November 5, 2008, 05:21 PM
Mitch McConnell and the NRA-ILA said that Kennedy intended to ban hunting weapons/ammo
I believe the bill would ban anything capable of piercing a level II vest. Said rounds include the 30-30, 12 gauge slugs, 20 gauge sluge, the .30-06, .308, .223, and a host of others

November 5, 2008, 06:36 PM
Definitly going to try to buy.

November 6, 2008, 05:22 PM
My my, the amount of "Chicken Littles" on the gun forums is kind of shocking to me. I did just buy a bunch of ammo, and a gun, but it had nothing to do with the election. Nothing will happen overnight, there will be plenty of warning if there's another AWB, so take it easy, and don't just invent doomsday scenarios. I know some of you will flame me, but I don't care, you need to sit back and take a deep breath and relax.
