I snapped the hickory rod for my T/C Hawken the other day, anyone know where I can get another? I picked up one of the aluminum universal rods by T/C as it was all I could find locally and I needed something now since I'm hunting with it on Saturday, but I would like to get a nice new hickory one for looks and such.

TC will probably send you one for free if you ship them the broken one.
Or go to www.dixiegun.com and type "hickory" into their search box. :)

Cains has hickory rods for three bucks or so, buy a half dozen. You will have to put your old ends on. I prefer wooden but their Super Rod is real like and unbreakable. Do not use a hardware store dowel rod.

I bought several Hickory blanks years ago from Dixie and after 6 month or so linseed oil soak fitted them with ends that I machined.
If you can go this route, I strongly suggest cross pinning the ends in place.
I am also an advocate of the use of a short starter in loading.
Much easier on the ramrod.
