AS IF GIVING THEM DRIVER'S LICENSES WASN'T ENOUGH! WHAT'S NEXT?!?!?

Immigrants may be aided by bill OK'd by Assembly

By Associated Press

SACRAMENTO -- A bill that would allow undocumented immigrants to apply for financial aid at California community colleges was approved by the state Assembly on Thursday.

The bill, by Sen. Martha Escutia, D-Norwalk, would direct the board of governors to establish a process so students without legal immigration status can apply to have tuition waived.

It would require that the student attended high school in California for at least three years, obtained a diploma or an equivalent degree and, if the student isn't in the state legally, has applied to become a legal resident.

Opponents said the bill followed in the footsteps of the recently approved bill to allow illegal immigrants to get driver's licenses. :cuss:

"Now we want to give financial aid in community colleges to illegal aliens?" said Assemblyman Dennis Mountjoy, R-Monrovia. "Members, what is the matter with you?"

But supporters said the bill would help those students become educated members of the state's work force, helping the economy.

"We can continue to bury our heads in the sand and ignore it, but this helps kids who are in this state, who have graduated from high school, who we hope will go on to college, or learn a trade," said Assemblyman Joe Nation, D-San Rafael. "It's the right thing to do politically, it's the right thing to do socially, and it's the right thing to do economically as well."

The bill was approved on a 43-27 vote, returning to the Senate for approval of Assembly amendments.

Great. My sister doesn't qualify for a great many student grants because she worked a little too much this summer, BUT we can afford to give illegals money in a year that the entire community college system is strapped for cash. What a great idea.
Hell, while we're at it, why don't we just thow open our borders and let everyone who want to, come in. Ooo, and here's the kicker: we will proactively issue all of them US birth certificates, to save them any problems trying to illegally vote! (It's probably already ocurred to Bustamonte and the Dems, but since they haven't gotten all the proles on their side and the police forces are not yet substantial enough, he may be a little leery.)

Not knowing too much about immigration policy, do illegal aliens residing in the state pay as much in STATE taxes if they were here legally?

Skunk:
IF they pay taxes at all. Remember, to legally work, and pay taxes (and pay into Social Security, etc.) you need a SSN. Some get a legal one, others pirate one, and others simply work under the table.

Does anyone else get the impression that Democrats are trying to thwart the democratic processes in this country, while Republicans are trying to restrict the liberty of the citizens of this country?

The matter with them is socialist parasitism.

We've had "Girls Gone Wild."

Now we have "'Compassion' Gone Wild."

Why stop there? Hey, I say give 'em free cars and free mortgages. I mean
"they come here to work," right? And doesn't that, working, entitle
them to every bounty of American society? Pile on the bennies and
send the bill to Aunt Tillie and Uncle Joe.

I think a lot of us are waiting to see just how much taxpayers, in
California and elsewhere, are willing to take before they ignite.

The topic of this thread does not involve "citizens of this country."

This goes beyond stupidity, and beyond a difference of opinion. This is grotesque.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again . . . there are more than a few people in our government who hate this country and want to do all they can to harm it. By their actions, people like Sen. Martha Escutia, D-Norwalk, and Assemblyman Joe Nation, D-San Rafael, clearly fit into this category.
