Make a little bit of money, key word is little, to supplement my disability by selling knives and sharpening. I would like to have business card printed but cant really come up with a good name.
My best effort = Doc's Sharp Pointy Things (pathetic at best!)
Being an unimaginative old curmugeon I need your help, get creative, silly, or serious, all efforts welcome!

How about:

"New Edge"
"Sharp Dressed Man" (probably think you're selling clothes though)
"I dream of a snail crawling down the edge..." (no too weird)
Maybe just "Doc's Expert Knife Sharpening and Refurbishing"

All right; you wrote that you'd permit silly ideas:
you could sell "tacticool" knives and call it The Operating Theater.

Easy. 'Curmudgeon Edges'. Or 'Curmudgeon Knives'.
You can make your own business cards too. Business card stock isn't expensive nor difficult to get(Business Depot, Office Depot, etc.) and can be made with either WordPerfect(my preference.) or MS WORD templates. Read the 'Help' files about 'Business Templates' in WP. 'Envelopes and Labels' in Word.
They look best using a laser printer, but an ink jet will do. Paying for business cards isn't cheap. About $10 or so will let you make 100 decent looking business cards with your computer and either word processor.

Paying for business cards isn't cheap.

Absolutely the cheapest advertising you can do. If you don't have business cards, you aren't in business.

Try yellow page listing with your business phone. Prepare for sticker shock.

"Doc Sharps or Sharps Doc" In case you don't know, sharps refers to needles and other similar things, but it is catchy.

Perhaps the best advice I can offer is to inform you not to select a name or a slogan with negative connotations. Remember, we live in a highly litigious society where people seem to look for any reason to sue. Beyond this bit of good sense, follow the pundits. Good luck and keep us posted with the results. I may use your services in the future. PM me if you think my small contribution to your enterprise seems worthwhile. Again, good luck.
