Better Do It Now…

If you don’t have a “scary black rifle” and you want one, you had better get one before President Elect Obama begins dismantling our 2nd Amendment Rights.

If you don’t have any 30 round magazines, you better get them while you can.

If you have any guns in you collection that you want to sell, you better do it now.

Because once the federal Assault Weapons Ban is made permanent you will no longer be able to get these things…

Perhaps someone in the know can explain how Obama plans to “keep guns away from criminals who shouldn’t have them”…

We all know how well the “war on drugs” has worked. Billions and billions of dollars spent keeping drugs away from the criminals who shouldn’t have them…

When having guns becomes criminal, only criminals will have guns…

Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.

This has been said before but it's worth repeating: this is the time to be writing letters to your representatives and congressmen. Take the same approach that was taken before the election - fight as hard as you can to stop it from happening instead of submitting yourself to doom. ACT! There is no better time.

B Hussein is not in office for a few months yet, EBR aren't going to be banned in that time, and chances are we will have time after the election. The sky isn't falling. As far as buying now, I have no problem with it. I am. ;) And as to if we will be a be able to buy them after and AWB passes - it depends on the wording of the law.

Better do it now?

Y'mean, better join an RKBA organization? Better donate to those organizations that actually represent you? Better visit your newly (re)elected politician and explain that you're just one of millions of concerned citizens that want to protect our RKBA?

Better get up off the couch and do something constructive instead of spending money on things. I'm sure that some of us worked to help preserve all our rights, but I'm sure some of us at THR just sat there and grumbled into our beer.

Time for apathy sure seems to be over for everyone, but will we be motivated to buy what we didn't already own or will be roll up our sleeves and work?

Might be a good time to look into law enforcement as a profession, 'cause they are going to be busier than ever. We'll need someone to enforce all the new laws PE Hussein is going to enact.

How exactly does a government make guns in this country childproof?

Obama has talked about huge ammunition taxes, and also microstamping. So while none of this is guaranteed to happen, it is a whole lot more likely now than a few years ago.

Here's what I'm concerned about. I really don't believe that there are that many folks out there that care about their gun rights, or at least many that care enough to do anything about keeping them. Where I work there is only one other person besides myself that gives it any thought. I would be surprised if more than fifteen or twenty percent of the nation really cares about their right to own firearms. Now that's scary.

Most people, it seems, are more than willing to trade your rights away - and their own as well- for some small percieved increase in safety.

I think everyone should give TITHE of their gun buying $$$ to their favorite RKBA group. Yeah its good to stock up in the face of hard times, but how about finding a way out of the hard times?

Why is everybody freaking out?

Both the new president and vice president are among the most anti-gun politicians in D.C.

The new president is picking people for key positions with similar mindsets to their own on a variety of issues. We don't know how that will pan out.

The new president will likely be selecting two new Supreme Court justices, again likely with similar mindsets to his own.

We are going to see the most anti-gun bunch of politicians ever to be in charge in D.C.

The new president has previously stated he would like a permanent AWB, and a federal ban on concealed weapons permits.

Shall I go on, or do you not think any of those things are worth worrying about?

It is interesting that the folks at change.gov dropped the policy material from the campaign website and you no longer can find any reference to weapons, guns, firearms, rifles, AWB or assault weapons. Gone. Poof. You can't even find them with a search for any of the terms any more. They were there a couple of days ago. The links to them others posted above all worked, until just a little while ago.

hso - not to beat a dead horse, but again - it's not a priority.
The change.gov site was basically just a modification of the original bo.com site. When they moved it over to change.gov - half of it didn't even work. They've been trimming a lot of stuff down since it initially went up.
Obviously - i imagine a lot of people here are going to take what I say with a grain of salt, but that's really what it is.
BO.com outlined positions and opinions on issues. Change.gov is meant to outline priorities and things the new administration is actually going to focus on. There is a pretty hefty difference between the two.
Over the coming weeks we'll get an idea of what the focus will be. The gun issue is a question on everyone's mind, so no doubt it will come up sooner or later, the question is whether or not anybody actually plans to pursue it.

Lucky for gun owners, OB has a lot of other more important things to be concerned with. I don't believe that the gun laws are anything more than a pre election gimick. Just to pacify voters who may be anti's prior to an election. They pandor to whoever they are talking to. If it's down south, they say one thing, and up north and west they say the opposite. Just more bull.

I keep hearing that Obama wants to make the AWB permanent. Am I missing something here ? Even if he makes it "permanent", won't it only be permanent until the Republicans get back into power ? Most likely anyway.
And what if he totally outlaws the "evil black rifle" ? Not just the sale , but the possession ? All these people running out and buying them will be SOL.

How does talking about gun control laws gain you votes if you're already the Democractic candidate?

Obama and Biden been VERY anti-gun for years. They could have not mentioned anything about gun control and gotten even more votes.

If anything, talking about gun control is a liability to someone trying to get elected. So if they talk about it then it is their passion or belief.

For a long time I've said that gun control is MUCH more important to Democratic politicians than it is to their constituents.

Not by a long shot.

The Republicans, although they certainly constitute the lesser of two evils, don't seem to be willing to support as fully as they ought to, our 2A Rights.

When one votes for the lesser of two evils, one must also remember that they are still voting for an "evil".

A politician is just a person seeking a job. They will tell their prospective employer what they want to hear to get the job. Obama being a democratic senator in Ill spoke of anti gun subjects as his state is not very gun friendly. W hen running for president he also said he was for gun ownership and would support the right to defend yourself. Now since he made both statements how do you know which side of the fence he sits on? How do you base your suggestions to buy everything now because of the impending ban on one thing he said while ignoring the other?

I agree. The absolute worst thing about Democrats is that once they screw something up, the Republicans don't have the cojones to fix it so it STAYS screwed up.

This country is still suffering from LBJs policies in the 60's.

This country is still suffering from FDRs court-packing scheme, and that was in the 30's!

When he passed a bunch of unconstitutional laws and the Supreme Court began shooting them all down, he threatened to appoint MORE justices until he got a majority.

That is why Democrats are so dangerous. NOTHING EVER GETS FIXED!

It goes deeper. It goes back to the "Progressive Era" which brought us the Seventeenth Amendment stripping the several state legislatures of their power to select their Senators greatly reducing the sovereign power of the several states, and the Sixteenth Amendment which brought us the income tax and a means to conduct social engineering through "fairness".
