question on AR upper

Hi all,

I just bought a built-up RRA NM 2-stage trigger lower from a local gun shop.

My long range plan is to put a heavy .223 fast twist varmint upper on it for long range prairie dog work.

In the short term though, I'd love to get a shorter carbine barrel just for plinking. (I know, I know, a 2-stage trigger on a carbine-length AR........:o)

So, I am looking for a complete upper with acceptable accuracy and reliability for a good price. A few searches here have lead me to Del-ton.

I saw this upper:

http://www.del-ton.com/AR_15_Barrel_Assembly_p/dt1011.htm

Now, I know it's not going to be a tack driver but for general close-in range work, does this sound like a good deal at $395? I have no idea if this would be a decent upper or not.

Also, this is listed as a "barrel Assembly" - is it an assembled upper or an upper parts kit?

thanks!

Del-Ton calls complete uppers "Barrel Assemblies", and they say on the website that they include the bolt carrier group. So, yes, just drop that complete upper onto your lower.

Del-ton makes good stuff for recreational / plinking use AR-15s. The upper you linked is a 20" rifle length though. I'd spend $10 more and get an actual 16" carbine length upper.

Thanks!

I saw looking at the 16", not sure why I posted a link for the 20".

They have some 16" carbine barrel assemblies for the same price.

Looks good to me!
