I know a local sporting goods store that has a NIB Beretta Standard 390 with synthetic stock available for $449. Is this an OK deal, good deal or a screamin' deal that I should buy right now?

I don't have much shotgun experience but would like to go dove hunting with the guys at work this year or next and would like to get started. Barrel length is 28".

Yes, I would say that is a good price. I bought a 390 with synthetic stock at Wal-Mart two years ago for $499.

I have shot mine a good bit and was lucky enough to find a take off short turkey barrel for mine. It always goes off and I have had no problems with it. I did add a SVL recoil pad to it because those heavy turkey loads hurt.
A good gun for a good price. I would go for it. Good Luck!

That's a good deal.
I considered $525 a very good deal for my wood stocked 390 sporting 2+ years ago.
Excellent shotgun
