I have some 60gr Sierras in route and some 322 and varget on the shelf. Anybody have a good combo for these?

Look on the www.Hodgdon.com site and make a choice. H322 is a little fast burning and the Varget is a little slow burning but both will work. Work up some loads and try them.

I shoot with a guy who likes to use Varget for he's 223rem loads.

He often gets half inch groups with 55gr HPBT's at 100 yards.
From he's right outta the box Rem700 SPS, sporter rifle with sporter barrel.

So, I suspect that maybe one of the reasons he likes Varget.

I use 23.5 gr. of H322 with the Sierra 60gr. Varminter in my Savage Bolt gun, and it is consistently accurate. I have yet to try a powder that gives me better results.

Depends on whether it's for a gas gun or a bolt action. Varget will work well in a bolt action, but might be a little slow in a gas gun. I've used Varget and RL-15 with 52-53 gr bullets in a .223 bolt gun with good success.

I'm using Varget right now for .223 loads, but the problem is that it's a bulky powder and doesn't fit too well in the case. I have to tap the powder measure on each case to get it to settle or it will spill. On the plus side, there is NO chance of a double charge, as Varget fills the entire case.

I use Varget for my accuracy loads in 22-250 bolt and .223 single shot; however for general .223 I have been using H335- it's slower than H322 but not as slow as Varget so I call it a great compromise, especially in a gas gun.
