Ranch Rifle Accuracy and Price?

Hey guys. Last time I posted here, I was all about the AK's. I've never, NEVER had a rifle I couldn't get at least 2 MOA at 100 yards with. Hell, I've had 2 MOA at 250 yards with a CARCANO! With Iron Sights! The guy who owned it (met on the range, he let me have five rounds) jaw was on the ground.

But the Saiga in 7.62x39 mm has finally broken me. I've tried everything. The best Remingtion cartridges ($20.00 for 20 rounds :what: ) and Winchester rounds, I've set it on a bench, I even bought the proper mounting rings for a $500 dollar scope my uncle owns. Nothing, NOTHING, got this rifle 2 MOA at 100 yards. Me, my brothers, my father and his brothers, hell even random guys I've met on the range couldn't get 2 MOA out of it.

So, I've given up. I knew AK's were inherently inaccurate, but I had no idea that they couldn't even pull of a simple shot at 100 yards (or at least this Saiga can't). So, I'm doing what I should have done in the first place.

I'm looking at a Ruger Mini-14. Yes, its another 300 dollars, but an AR-15 for under $900 these days is a pipe dream (a new one that is). Plus, they do not come with pistol grips. Just something about a pistol grip on a hunting rifle says "wrong" to me. I don't know what, but I don't think I could own one. They make Mini-14's in 6.8 SPC now, which as I understand is better than 7.62x39mm in almost everyway.

But the two biggest concerns I have: Accuracy and Price. And no, Googling didn't really tell me much.

1. What the accuracy like on a Mini-14 Ranch Rifle these days? I'm looking at the 6.8 Remington SPC specifically. I'd prefer to get at least 2 inch groups at 200 yards. Is this possible with any Ruger? What if I get a better barrel?

2. Whats the average price of a Mini-14?

Thanks in advance to any who respond.

Get one of these kits:
http://jtdistributing.net/store/more_k_ckioc.html

Look around and get a stripped lower for 100 bucks. $645 plus a few minutes of sticking parts in the lower will have you in a good-quality 6.8 SPC AR. (Complete rifles have an 11% excise tax added; buying a kit saves you a good deal of cash.)

Personally, I like my Mini-14's handling. But if money is all that's keeping you from getting an AR, you just have to be creative.
